The study included a total of 5,831 men ages 18 to 41 who were taking finasteride, an FDA-approved treatment for the male pattern hair loss in men. Of these, 38% reported experiencing side effects, and of these, 23% were concerned about the finasteride-related side effects. Among those men who were taking finasteride, the most common side effects were scalp irritation, and sexual side effects, such as reduced libido and erectile dysfunction.
Although it may be challenging to know exactly how finasteride affects these men, the results presented here provide an overview of the profile of finasteride side effects in finasteride use among men experiencing hair loss.

S. medical center), which analyzed finasteride use by men in their 50s andoples’ index of risk, found that the use of finasteride in men had a greater impact on their health than taking a placebo. This suggests that the higher effectiveness of finasteride, when compared to placebo, may be due to its more potent effect on the 5ARI enzyme.
Tadalafil and male pattern hair loss, or orrogenetic alopecia, is characterized by the development of hair follicles that stop producing enough dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to shrink the hair follicles and inhibit the growth of hair. It is the most commonly reported side effect of the medication, affecting one in 10 men who take the drug. Men who take tadalafil have a 25% likelihood of experiencing side effects, including reduced libido and erectile dysfunction, compared with those who take placebo.
Tadalafil was found to be more potent in inhibiting 5ARI (dihydrotestosterone) and 5ARI (dutasteride) enzymes than dutasteride.
